I’ve loved food as long as I can remember. I was the type of child that enjoyed cooking shows over the Saturday morning cartoons. I remember sneaking to stay up late at night to watch Emeril’s cooking show and I would make myself hungry and imagine what the food taste like. My love for food really started with my love to eat! The love even started before I even knew that it was love. I remember hanging out in my Bun Buns backyard and picking the low hanging fruits from her Blackberry Tree, grapes, pieces of grass and dirt and mixing them with water to make “soup”. I would put it in plastic bowls and serve it to my brothers and demand that they pretend to eat my masterpiece. Soup and I go way back, one of my mother’s first food memories is me taking her to the kitchen, telling her we need carrots, peas and potatoes because I wanted vegetable soup and we didn’t have any. The crazy part about it is that I was only 2 years old! I guess you can say I was born to love and know about food! My talent in the kitchen comes natural, but I was also groomed by the best chefs I know, my family. My Grandma Bobby would take me to the herb garden and we would play a game where I would rub the herbs and see how many I could identify by smell, she made sure I knew what they all were and how to use them. I could go on and on with many life experiences and many family members I have learned from but I will have to save that for a book because it’s just too many! To keep this long story short I did not always know that I wanted to be a chef. The life of a chef chose me. In college I would cook for people to make money and I would teach my girlfriends how to cook, they would all say how amazing it was and that I should be a chef. I would always hear how great of a cook I am, the biggest validation was making it to the Masterchef kitchen out of thousands of chefs and homecooks and holding my own! These days you can catch me in my kitchen cooking for those I love, and hopefully cooking for those you love! My promise is to “ Shake love into every bite” !
